Welcome to the website of the research group of Prof Dr Elke Söbbeke
The team is involved in empirical research into mathematical teaching and learning processes. To this end, we examine everyday or specifically developed learning situations, videograph them and analyse the data from an epistemological perspective.
We focus on our interest in better understanding and describing processes of knowledge construction by learners.
One of our focal points is the development of theories on mathematical learning and teaching. This results in constructive points of connection for the development and scientific testing of learning environments for schools and universities.
Our research projects investigate the conditions of learning mathematics in heterogeneous and multilingual learning groups as well as the teaching and learning of mathematics with visual aids and digital media.
